Our Story
Working Towards a Better Tomorrow
Here at Kai's and Cora's Foundation for Kids, we see the value in everyone. We want to be a catalyst for positive change. Kai's and Cora's Foundation for Kids will bring a smile and hope to each child's face when they receive their school supplies, or special needs supplies. We want the kids to know that they have an angel above in Kai and Cora, who through our work and your donations, we hope to bring them joy along with a desire to be the best they can be.
Kai’s and Cora’s Foundation for Kids was born out from the heartbreaking loss of our two wonderful spouses. Captain, USN (Ret.) Paul Harvey and his sister Valerie Rocio Raecke, a retired special education teacher, lost their spouses in 2020 within a period of seven months from each other. Kai Raecke, was diagnosed with brain cancer in July of 2019 and passed away in April of 2020. Corazon Harvey, contracted COVID-19 virus in October of 2020 and passed away in November of 2020. Both siblings remain devastated and continue to bear their grief each day. Through Kai's and Cora's Foundation for Kids, Valerie and Paul's sole purpose is to continue the work their spouses started. The foundation aims to provide needed assistance to children in specific communities in the Philippines and Colombia, that their spouses so loved.
Our non-profit organization will continue to bring hope, books, and other needed school supplies to the Tapinac Elementary School in Olongapo City, Philippines, where Corazon attended Elementary school. In addition, your donations will also be used to provide special need supplies to the orphanage of Fundación Sinapsis Vital, which houses individuals with special needs in the city of Pereira, Colombia. Kai and Valerie have supported this orphanage in the past. By enlisting your support, we can work together to help minimize and ultimately overcome some of the challenges that these kids face. Additionally, with Kai’s passing from Glioblastoma, a rare terminal brain cancer, 10% of all your donations received will go towards supporting the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA). Our sole purpose here is to channel the pain from our losses, into a positive energy to benefit in the lives of those less fortunate than us.
